He is also the CEO of Tesla, the electric car company. Ask any crypto market nut about the Dogecoin incident<\/a><\/strong> \u2014 in which Musk tweeted about the meme crypto coin \u2014 and you\u2019ll hear about how his tweet caused an 800% spike in its value nonstop. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

As with most giants in the tech industry, whatever Musk says tends to attract investors and blow up that specific \u2018bubble\u2019. Now, the next big market in Musk\u2019s radar seems to be the psychedelic drug industry. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Is a post-pandemic \u2018magic mushroom and magic truffle boom\u2019 to be expected? How often does Silicon Valley get trippy anyway? And can<\/em> microdosing psilocybin unlock your creative genius? <\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the tech development event CodeCon2021<\/a><\/strong>, Field Trip Health co-founder Ronan Levy asked Musk the Twitter-breaking question: <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWhat role do you think psychedelics may have in addressing some of the more destructive tendencies of humanity?\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The SpaceX CEO then replied to a live audience:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI think, generally, people should<\/em> be open to psychedelics<\/em><\/strong>.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cA lot of people making laws are kind of from a different era. So, as the <\/em>new generation<\/em><\/strong> gets into political power, I think we will see greater receptivity to the benefits of psychedelics.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fingers crossed he’s on to something ….<\/p>\n\n\n\n

…And Predicts Full Decriminalisation<\/em><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Various U.S. cities and states are decriminalising the use of natural psychedelics, also known as entheogens<\/a><\/strong>. These include psilocybin<\/strong> from magic mushrooms and truffles, ibogaine, and DMT-rich ayahuasca. The latest to join the party was Seattle in Washington earlier this week \u2014 you can read all about the exciting news right here<\/a>!<\/strong> This wave of legal progress is propelled by psychedelic research, which is key to convincing the lawmakers to give ’em a shot!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Recent studies<\/a><\/strong> have shown psilocybin and DMT to be effective for mental health. When paired with talk therapy, psilocybin can help treat a host of conditions, such as depression, anxiety, PTSD, and addiction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Musk\u2019s answer at CodeCon is a solid endorsement of the therapeutic use of psychedelic drugs \u2014 even hinting he suspects their complete decriminalisation<\/strong> in the U.S. in the near future. Can you imagine? A future where everyone<\/em> gets to enjoy the healing wonders of magic mushrooms and magic truffles (and other such entheogens)<\/em>. And by the looks of it, the prophecy is well on its way to becoming true… <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Apart from looking after X \u00c6 A-12 Musk <\/strong>\u2014 his child with \u201cscience fiction dream pop\u201d singer and ex-girlfriend Grimes<\/strong> \u2014 Elon spends much of his time thinking about ways for humans to go into outer space. Interstellar planet hopping, anyone?<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

But oh boy! Who knew the SpaceX CEO was also into trips of the psychedelic kind? Musk\u2019s words at CodeCon, while making a strong case, are certainly not <\/em>his first time flirting with the concept. In November 2020, Elon tweeted that one cannot break the \u201claws of thermodynamics\u201d<\/a><\/em> <\/strong>or physical reality as we know it, unless DMT is involved \u2014 aka the trippy compound in ayahuasca:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Musk already had his fair share of controversy back in 2018, when he went on The Joe Rogan Experience podcast while smoking pot<\/a><\/strong>. It was the episode that launched a thousand memes. But NASA got suspicious, and soon ordered a review of SpaceX\u2019s workplace culture to see if the rocket company was \u201cfit to transport astronauts\u201d<\/em> to the International Space Station. When asked if psychedelics could help cure<\/strong> some of our \u201cdestructive tendencies\u201d<\/em>, Musk answered that humans \u2014 at least the majority of the world\u2019s population today \u2014 are no longer as bloodthirsty as we once were. Not sure if a billionaire is equipped to to comment on the rest of the population… but luckily the facts support his claim. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
