According to a large international survey, cannabis and psychedelics like psilocybin and LSD are being perceived as <em>efekt\u012bv\u0101k<\/em> for eating disorder symptoms than many traditional prescription medications.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>This is not just hype. Participants praised it for increasing hunger and making eating feel pleasurable again \u2014 key issues in disorders like anorexia. Science backs this up: cannabis activates the <strong>medial hypothalamus<\/strong>, a part of your brain that controls hunger and the reward of eating.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, if bingeing is more of a challenge <em>(like in bulimia)<\/em>, cannabis wasn\u2019t always helpful. In some cases, it even made compulsive behaviors worse.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-psilocybin\"><strong>Psilocib\u012bns<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>They might only take magic mushrooms once or twice a year, but for many survey participants, that was enough. Psilocybin was linked to lasting improvements in mood, anxiety, and even body image. It helped with emotional regulation and reduced the intensity of disordered thoughts around food and self-worth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-lsd\"><strong>LSD<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Also used occasionally, LSD was reported to ease emotional distress related to eating. Based on the results, new clinical studies are already underway at the University of Sydney\u2019s Lambert Initiative and Inside Out Institute, including:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A <strong>psilocybin clinical trial<\/strong> for treating <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wholecelium.com\/lv\/emuars\/petijumos-konstatets-ka-psilocibins-var-palidzet-anoreksijas-arstesana\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">anoreksija<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A <strong>CBD pilot study<\/strong> focused on youth with severe anorexia<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>These are big steps, especially considering how complex eating disorders are. But if you\u2019ve ever felt like traditional medications weren\u2019t quite getting to the root of the issue, you\u2019re not alone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Thousands of people are exploring alternatives like cannabis and psychedelics \u2014 and many are finding <em>something that actually helps<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>More research is needed.
