In the control group, the drug actually reduced interest in social novelty. This lead mice to spend similar amounts of time with familiar and unfamiliar mice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Among food-restricted mice, those with lower body weight paid more attention to a new object than to another mouse, suggesting their motivation was more focused on finding food.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These findings suggest that starvation and physical activity can significantly shape social motivation. Increased novelty-seeking might help animals locate food during times of scarcity, but it could also reflect compulsive patterns similar to those seen in anorexia and addiction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Role of Exercise in Immune Response<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The researchers also examined inflammation by measuring <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Interleukin_6\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">interleukin-6 levels<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At baseline, levels were similar across all groups, which differs from human studies that often find higher inflammation in people with anorexia. Interestingly, higher inflammation in this group was linked to greater interest in social novelty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This relationship did not appear in food-restricted mice, suggesting that prior starvation may disrupt the connection between psilocybin, inflammation, and behavior.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The findings indicate that exercise may alter how psilocybin influences immune signaling, possibly through metabolic pathways related to reward and motivation.
