Terence Kemp McKenna (November 16, 1946 \u2013 April 3, 2000) was a brilliant, provocative thinker\u2014 an American ethnobotanist, lecturer, and author whose influence on psychedelic thought endures to this day. Often referred to as the \"Timothy Leary<\/a> of the \u201990s,\u201d<\/em> McKenna was celebrated (and occasionally criticized)<\/em> for championing the responsible use of naturally occurring psychedelics (especially psilocybin mushrooms, DMT, and ayahuasca) <\/em>and for weaving together themes from metaphysics, shamanism, linguistics, and the evolution of consciousness. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Terence\u2019s daughter, Klea McKenna, a Guggenheim-fellow visual artist, recently shared that she has taken on \u201cthe job of archiving his life and work and of managing his intellectual property rights,\u201d <\/em>after stepping away from it all for more than two decades.
