Summer and psychedelics have always gone hand in hand.

Long before modern research revived interest in psilocybin and other consciousness-expanding substances, people were gathering in fields, forests, deserts and mountains to dance, connect, create art and explore altered states together. Today’s psychedelic festivals continue that tradition, blending music, community, spirituality, ecology, creativity and curiosity into experiences that often feel as transformative as they do entertaining.

Whether you’re interested in psytrance, plant medicine, consciousness research, mycology, breathwork, visionary art, or simply being around like-minded people, there are more psychedelic-adjacent festivals happening this summer than ever before.

Here’s our guide to some of the most exciting gatherings taking place across the world in 2026 and beyond.

OZORA Festival (Hungary)

Când: 24 July – 4 August 2026

If there’s one festival that consistently appears on psychedelic bucket lists, it’s OZORA.

Held in a valley in the Hungarian countryside, OZORA has evolved from a psytrance festival into one of the world’s most iconic psychedelic gatherings. Music remains at the heart of the experience, but calling it simply a music festival doesn’t really capture what happens there. Attendees spend days moving between workshops, yoga classes, healing spaces, visionary art installations, lectures, performances and communal experiences.

The festival attracts tens of thousands of people from around the world and has become a central hub for global psychedelic culture. Multiple stages host everything from psytrance and ambient music to experimental electronic sounds, while the famous healing areas offer everything from breathwork to meditation and somatic practices.

For many psychonauts, OZORA feels less like an event and more like a temporary psychedelic city.

As one Reddit attendee put it, “It was the best festival I’ve ever been to.”

Boom Festival (Portugal)

Când: Every two years (next edition 2027)

While Boom isn’t running this summer, it deserves a mention because many psychedelic travellers planning future adventures start here.

Boom has become one of the most influential psychedelic festivals on Earth. Built around sustainability, visionary art, consciousness exploration and electronic music, it has helped define what a modern psychedelic gathering can look like.

The festival is famous for its lectures on psychedelics, indigenous wisdom, neuroscience, ecology and social change. It also hosts one of the most respected healing areas in the festival world, featuring workshops on meditation, breathwork, yoga and embodied practices.

If you’re planning your psychedelic travel calendar beyond 2026, Boom belongs near the top of the list.

Mo:Dem Festival (Croatia)

Când: 3–9 August 2026

If OZORA is the psychedelic world’s colourful village, Mo:Dem is its underground cathedral.

Set among forests and rivers in rural Croatia, Mo:Dem (Momento Demento) has earned legendary status for its darker, more experimental sound and immersive visual environments. Expect forest psytrance, darkpsy, avant-garde art installations, healing areas and one of the most dedicated psytrance communities on Earth. Many fans consider it the deepest underground psytrance experience available today.

Antaris Project (Germany)

Când: Cancelled this year, happening again summer 2027

One of Europe’s longest-running psytrance festivals, Antaris has been bringing together psychedelic music lovers since 1993. Held at Gollenberg, the world’s oldest airfield, the festival is known for its old-school Goa spirit, international crowd and strong sense of community. The 2026 edition carries additional significance as organisers describe it as a farewell gathering and tribute to founder Uwe Siebert.

Hadra Trance Festival (France)

Când: 27–30 August 2026
Where: Vieure Lake, France

One of France’s biggest psychedelic music festivals, Hadra blends psytrance culture with ecology, art and social engagement.

The 2026 edition launches a new “Solar Punk Chronicle” theme focused on optimistic futures where technology, community and nature coexist. Across four stages, attendees can explore more than 170 artists performing psytrance, progressive, darkpsy, ambient, downtempo and experimental sounds.

Away from the dancefloors, Hadra hosts workshops, ecological discussions, craft markets and community spaces that reflect the wider values often associated with psychedelic culture.

Own Spirit Festival (Spain)

Când: 2–7 September 2026
Where: Baldellou, Spain

Set beside the Santa Ana Reservoir in northeastern Spain, Own Spirit has developed a reputation as one of Europe’s most beautiful transformational festivals.

Music spans the full psychedelic spectrum, from Goa trance and progressive psytrance to forest and darkpsy. Alongside the music, visitors will find healing spaces, workshops, family areas and a strong ecological ethos.

The lakeside setting gives the festival a particularly relaxed atmosphere, making it a favourite among travellers looking for a balance of dancefloor energy and personal exploration.

Mystic Sound Gathering (Greece)

Când: 10–13 September 2026
Where: Northern Greece

New for 2026, Mystic Sound Gathering is shaping up to be one of the most exciting boutique psychedelic events of the year.

Created by Mystic Sound Records, the gathering focuses on downtempo, psychill, ambient music and conscious community. The inaugural lineup includes major names such as Simon Posford (Shpongle), Carbon Based Lifeforms, Younger Brother and Hallucinogen.

With attendance capped at around 1,000 people, the festival aims to offer a more intimate experience than many of Europe’s larger psytrance events.

Indian Spirit Festival (Germany)

Când: 26 – 31 August 2026

One of Europe’s largest psytrance events, Indian Spirit blends massive production values with a broad musical lineup spanning progressive psytrance, full-on and techno. It’s often recommended for people looking for a high-energy festival experience with a large international audience.

Universo Paralello (Brazil)

Next edition: December 2026 / January 2027

Although technically outside the Northern Hemisphere summer season, Universo Paralello deserves a mention. Held on a remote Brazilian beach, it has become one of the most famous psychedelic festivals in the Southern Hemisphere. Expect sunrise dancefloors, tropical landscapes, global music and a uniquely Brazilian interpretation of psychedelic culture..

Why Psychedelic Fans Are Drawn to Festivals

You don’t need to consume psilocybin or any psychedelic substance to appreciate what makes these gatherings special. Many people attend completely sober, because what attracts them is something deeper.

Psychedelic experiences often create feelings of interconnectedness, awe, creativity and curiosity. Good festivals can evoke remarkably similar qualities through music, art, nature and shared experience.

Breathwork workshops can alter perception, while meditation sessions can create profound states of awareness. Dance floors can induce flow states, and late-night conversations with strangers can become unexpectedly meaningful.

In many ways, festivals provide a cultural container for exploring consciousness, whether mushrooms are involved or not.

The Growing Relationship Between Mushrooms and Festival Culture

As psilocybin research continues to expand, the overlap between festival culture and psychedelic culture is becoming increasingly visible. Scientists are studying psilocybin for depression, addiction, anxiety and trauma. New research suggests psychedelic experiences may also support creativity and flexible thinking.

At the same time, festivals are increasingly incorporating talks on neuroscience, mycology, ecology, mental health and personal growth alongside music programming.

The result is a new kind of gathering — one where entertainment, education and transformation often exist side by side.

A Summer for Exploration

Whether you’re dancing until sunrise in Hungary, attending a psychedelic science conference in Colorado, exploring mycology in Denver, or planning a future pilgrimage to Boom, this summer offers more opportunities than ever to connect with psychedelic culture.

The modern psychedelic movement is happening on dance floors, in lecture halls, beneath forest canopies and around campfires, as well as in scientific research facilities.

And for many people, festivals remain one of the most joyful places to experience it. Just remember: bring sunscreen, stay hydrated, look after your friends, and leave enough room in your backpack for a little wonder.
