What is Lemon Tek?

Lemon Tek is an easy-peasy, lemon-squeezy method to get the most out of your magic mushrooms and truffles. The process of adding lemon juice to magic mushrooms or truffles causes psilocybin, the psychoactive compound in shrooms, to convert into psilocin — aka what makes you high. Usually this conversion occurs due to the acid in our stomachs after we consume shrooms. With Lemon Tek however, this part of the process is outsourced, meaning that when you consume your Lemon Tek mixture, you hop on the fast train to psychedelic bliss.

What Are the Benefits of Lemon Tek?

Much Faster Come-Up: As you have already converted the psilocybin into psilocin the onset of a Lemon Tek trip arrives at warp speed.

A More Powerful High: Many users report that Lemon Tek causes a much more powerful and intense trip, with the effects coming on faster and stronger than when eaten plain or made into tea. Because of this many people begin their Lemon Tek experimentation with half their usual dose.

Shorter High: As the conversion of psilocybin to psilocin has already occurred, the body processes your shrooms faster, sometimes leading to a shorter-length trip. For some people this is a good thing, while others see it as a drawback.

Improved Taste: Chewing on mushrooms or truffles is not everyone’s idea of a good time. Turning them into a short, sharp, lemon shot can make consuming them far easier.

Reduces Potential Nausea: The acid in the lemon juice is said to break down some of the chitins in the mushroom cell walls. Chitins are usually the responsible party for shroom induced nausea, as our bodies find them difficult to break down.

How Long Does Lemon Tek Take to Kick In?

A definite, to-the-minute answer is not possible here, in the same way as there is no set time for coming up if you simply eat your shrooms. However, a reliable estimate is around 15-20 minutes. If your stomach is empty it could be faster. If you ate before it could be longer. Many people also say that the Lemon Tek trip can be a quarter to a third shorter than a standard trip. It is also said the trip is less draining in the aftermath.

How To Make Lemon TEK with Fresh Magic Truffles: A Step-By-Step Guide

25g of fresh magic truffles (in this tutorial, we used Atlantis)

Freshly squeezed lemon juice from 1 or 2 lemons

(Optional) 120ml water

(Optional) syrup sweetener  — in this tutorial, we used Monin

  • Small bowl
  • Glass
  • Pestle and mortar or sharp knife. A coffee grinder can be used if using dry shrooms.

Step 1 – Select your fresh magic truffles and dosage. We used 25 grams of Atlantis.

Step 2 —  If using fresh magic truffles, use a pestle and mortar to thoroughly crush them. Alternatively, you can use a sharp knife to chop them into tiny pieces. If you are using dried shrooms, grind them with a coffee grinder. Do NOT use a coffee grinder on fresh magic mushrooms or truffles, you’ll end up with a squishy mess.

Step 3 — Squeeze your lemons into your bowl, removing any pips.

Step 4 — Place the fresh magic truffles or shrooms into your lemon juice

Step 5 — Let soak for up to 25 minutes, stirring or shaking every 5 minutes or so.

Step 6 – (Optional) After soaking you can transfer to a larger glass and add water or syrup. Some people strain their mixture through a filter or cheesecloth (we did not here to ensure maximum potency.)

Step 7 – ENJOY!!!

Lemon Tek: FAQ

What Does Lemon Tek Feel Like?

Lemon Tek experiences are said to be more intense and ‘heady’ than traditional trips. They are also said to be 2 to 3 times as strong, so reducing your standard dosage size is recommended.

Is Lemon Tek for Me?

It depends. Lemon Tek is generally recommended for those who already have some experience with magic mushrooms and truffles. The quick onset of Lemon Tek may be too intense for newbies. However, if you are more experienced, want a shorter, stronger trip, or experience nausea when taking shrooms the trad way — then yes! Lemon Tek is for you.

Do I Have to Use Lemons for Lemon Tek?

Not necessarily. Our stomach acid pH level is at its highest around 3.5. This means that lemons, with a pH of 2 to 3 are ideal to break down shrooms more efficiently. Limes also fit into this range, as does pomegranate juice, balsamic vinegar and, hilariously, red wine (the kind you don’t offer to fancy guests.) So, you can Lime Tek and Wine Tek, but things with a pH above this, such as oranges or pineapples, (3.2 to 4.3) will not work in the desired fashion.

How Lemon Tek Can Enhance Your Tripping Experience

Lemon Tek is just one of several ways to expand your psychedelic experience. With almost supernatural power, the humble lemon can turn even a small dose of shrooms into transcendent high. The shortened length of the trip can make the intensity of Lemon Tek more manageable and can reduce the fatigued feeling some people experience afterwards. It is also a good way to avoid nausea and mask taste. As always with psychedelics, exploration, and trial and error in a safe environment are key to finding your cosmic sweet spot.
