It’s important to remember that the psychedelic trip itself is just the beginning of the journey. In order to make the most of the power of magic mushrooms and fully experience their benefits, we must integrate the insights and realizations we gain from using them into our everyday lives.  This can be achieved through a few different practices. And, in this back-to-school-vibe, mushroom-sprouting month we affectionately call Shroomtember it’s as good a time as any to learn some tips and tricks on how to live psychedelically.

How Do I Live Psychedelically?

Living psychedelically isn’t about tripping all the time, necessarily. Nor is it about growing your hair long and listening exclusively to The Dark Side of the Moon. It’s about living in a way that best reflects the teachings and insights received during a psychedelic experience, and bringing them with you into everything you do. It’s about being kind, open, and making connections. It is about self-care and integration. Sounds pretty nice, huh?

Making Connections: Building a Community

Being part of a kind and supportive community is key to nurturing a complete psychedelic lifestyle. By building connections and friendships with like-minded people you are able to share your experiences, learn from others, and discover a sense of belonging. Talking through the wacky world of psychedelics with other individuals, who have had their own experiences can be both enlightening and great fun.  This can be done by attending events or workshops, taking part in integration circles, joining local psychedelic societies, or online communities. It’s just a google away! You may find yourself chatting with a more experienced psychonaut, soaking up their wisdom. You may find yourself as the wise one, giving advice to a newbie. Either way the warmth of community, the give-and-receive, and the connections you grow, will help to enhance and deepen your psychedelic lifestyle.

Integrate: Working Psychedelic Insights into Daily Life

Integration is a vital aspect of the psychedelic experience, representing its consolidation into your everyday life. It involves digesting and reflecting on the things you experienced during your trip. By doing this, we are able to incorporate these insights, lessons, and emotions going forward. Taking the time to integrate allows us to identify and extract meaning from our magic mushroom experiences. This then facilitates personal transformation, growth, and understanding. Methods of integration can include therapy, talking to a trusted friend, meditation, journaling, or some other creative expression such as music or drawing. Why lose the insights we gain during a trip? By integrating you can keep them with you, and work towards fulfillment and better understanding of yourself.

Keep Learning: Expand Your Psychedelic Education

If you follow psychedelic news, you’ll know that the exciting developments come thick and fast nowadays. Like your favorite team topping the league, it’s been a thrill to watch it soar. Ever evolving, the world of psychedelics is experiencing new research results, therapeutic applications, cultural shifts and expansions. Part of continuing to learn is keeping up with these developments. You can read books, articles (like this one!), listen to podcasts, attend conferences, and join online and in-person communities. You can also dig into some old-school psychedelic goodness too. From the music of the 60’s and 70’s, to the countercultural movies and books of the age, if you haven’t delved before… What are you waiting for?!

Self Care: Looking After Your Mind, Body, and Soul

Taking the time for self-care is a crucial part of cultivating a psychedelic lifestyle. Magic mushroom trips can be transcendent, introspective, profound — not to mention — fun! However, they can also be emotionally and spiritually demanding. Facing truths and deep insights can be a lot to handle, even when they are positive. Keeping a strong practice of self-care can help us to maintain strength and balance. Self-care is different for everyone. For you it could involve something like regular exercise or meditation. It could be spending time in nature, engaging in a hobby, eating healthy, or even just having a good cozy duvet day.  If you prioritize self-care, you can create a solid foundation for the overall health of your mind, body, and soul. So start running that bubble bath!

Grow You Wisdom and Share It Too!

The true essence of a healthy psychedelic lifestyle is found in applying the wisdom gained from magic mushroom experiences to how we continue this ol’ journey called life. It lies in embodying the core psychedelic values of love, compassion, respect, empathy, and open-mindedness. Tripping on psychedelics can help us understand and realize what our principles really are. And, learning from this wisdom can help us to live authentically in regards to them. In this way, each person can contribute a little bit of psychedelic positivity to society, and get the most out of their own lives.

So, there you have it. Living psychedelically can (kind of) be summed up by the immortal words of Bill and Ted; “Be excellent to each other!”

(Though perhaps with a little bit more meditation and blog-reading thrown in.)

However you do it, we hope that these tips will help you to fully embrace the psychedelic lifestyle that magic mushrooms can help us to access!
